I must say kids grow up way to fast and I just don't think promoting dressing up is the right thing to start at such a young age.

They are for 0-6 months old, the kid doesn't even know what is going on. This is a fun gift for your shoe-crazy friend who is having a little girl. Wear them once or twice for a photo and a laugh.
I mean I wouldn't buy them, but I am sure there are lots who will.

Why not just put a garter belt and stockings on the baby too? They're horrible and tacky. Why is it funny to start forcing a tiny baby into a sexual role before she can even stand up? Because everyone wears shoes, but high heels are designed to make a woman look more sexually attractive.

(BTW, I do have a sense of humor. Those just aren't funny.)

Yuck! Not cute, not funny, not ok. I'm expecting a little girl any day now, and if someone gave me those as a gift, I wouldn't even feel comfortable taking them to Goodwill. If they couldn't be returned, into the trash they'd go.

I don't think high heels (which little girls often try on when their moms aren't looking anyway) are quite comparable to thongs. Lipstick - another thing a lot of kids play around with even though you wouldn't let them go out with it in public.

I honestly don't see this as different from the other bizillion stupid (and potentially amusing) things people put on babies. I've seen pictures of babies in platters surrounded by carrots and potatoes. People do all sorts of weird crap with their kids for a laugh, but I really don't think it harms the infants to do silly, random things with them if they are kept comfortable.

And it's even worse that the marketer, the original poster, and the commenters have all decided that if anyone's going to be wearing this crap, it would only be female children. It's not necessary to force children into gender roles, either. Give them all options and let them pick what suits them when they're old enough to care.

I agree with hyacinthine... there's all manner of goofy stuff people do to their kids and this is just another of them.
