i do believe you are right AlmostAD, i think it IS soundproofing. if not, there's some exactly like it. now that i think about it i should buy this for my apartment. won't be too tacky on the early 1900 windows i have, right? ha! i kid!

I think it's too self-consciously hip for a home. It would be nice for a bar or a lounge, but I think it would look like it's trying too hard at home.

why add any more surfaces to dust? pretty but not worth the future cleaning time or allergies. maybe in a public bar / chillout room.

I like the groovy design. If you have a good housekeeper, go for it in your lounge.

It's hot. It looks like soundproofing. And, you know what? I bet it does a good job of calming down the hollow sound big/long rooms can have.

Just bought a home built in the 1950s that never had a make-over session since it was built... except for the brick textured wall covering on most of the living room , family room and kitchen. Lovely in it's day, I'm sure, but probably part of the reason the house sat on the market so long and we got such a good deal on it. Rather than cover it all with drywall - the only option to "get rid" of it - I left an accent wall up. Painted white, it has a slight urban appeal... though my house is decidedly modern and it doesn't really fit. My point is, sometimes those 3-d wall treatments are more trouble than they're worth...
