The problem with regular incandescent light bulbs is that most of their energy is expelled as heat rather than light, which is why their so inefficient. Throwing them away in still seems, well a little wasteful, but now a designer has found a way to make the most of their inefficiency — by using their heat to dry laundry. Read more below, but first answer our survey:
German designer Samuel Treindl has devised this fixture, Luftick, to take advantage of both the heat and light output from the bulb — the user can just hang their clothes around the cage and flip the switch to dry laundry by the light.

This is really dumb. I'd hazard to guess that a new electric clothes dryer is more energy efficient that this process. The only way that this would work is if you were multitasking to use the bulb for lighting AND dry your clothes at the same time. But who wants to hang this over their dining room table?
If you have a stack of unused incandescent bulbs, I'm sure there is a homeless shelter or non-profit that would be happy to receive them as a donation.
Can we say fire hazard. I can just see these things getting hung from fire sprinklers making things even worse. Sorry folks, Fail.
Seems like a fire hazard to me, too. Plus, I'd have a hard time finding a space for it. Also - it's "they're", not "their".
This would totally work. I say this as someone who dried her sheets all last year by hanging them over the shower rod, which was very close to the bathroom ceiling light. Much quicker drying than anywhere else in the apartment. Of course, I still support CFLs and turning the lights off and patience above all. :)
Who says it has to be a incandecent bulb?
LED or CFL, depending on what camp you're from, would work too, yes?
Even so a bit of a stretch but for the right person and place...maybe?
