According to Modernica, these Prince Charles (as in Eames) chairs are an example of Peter Shire giving "Mid Century the royal treatment". What do you think? Hot or Not?
From left to right: Prince Charles Arm Chair, Prince Charles Side Chair, and Prince Charles Wire Chair.
All available at Modernica.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Funny for the two first, screwed up on the metallic chair.
I'd get tired of them quickly though.
I'm with you, Daniel. I was at first intrigued, for about 2 seconds, and then it just felt...wrong.
I get the traditional/modern concept. But the execution comes across as only that: a concept.
fug
That is so funny animalhouze that was exactly the word that came to my mind.
Awful.
How edgy and creative!
Not.
There's something creepy about them. Like they would come to life and start running around.
So wrong.
The chairs give me a feeling like I have ants in my pants - which I guess could be seen as good pomo design. And now that I'm thinking about it that way...I sort of like them.
if it ain't broke don't fix it!
the chairs look great in their original form... those legs just look ridiculous!
soooooo NOT
Ew. It's like the chair equivalent of a mullet.
This is one of those things that seem interesting in concept, but HORRIBLE in execution. Reminds me of one time when I went to a 'build your own pizza' place. I thought pesto crust sounded good, and Thai chicken toppings sounded good. But NOT together... Like eating vomit flavored pizza....
Prince Charles is (mostly) a boor, so anything named after him sinks in my estimation.
oh these make me queasy
clunky out of place gimmick
I like it. If everyone is going to have the same chairs anyway, it is fun to dress it up! I think when you add a huge throw pillow to an iconic chair it ruins the lines. At least this way they are largely maintained.
Just say no.
this is awful!
this is just wrong
no.
What have they done...
this (almost) kills Modernica's credibility. a cheap move to bandwagon on success of the Louis Ghost, or just a plain horrible concept, either way they should know better. we can cut them a little slack just because their business must be suffering from a combination of week demand and increasingly high quality cheap copies from Asia being more widely available.
hopefully they'll realize the error, pull it quickly, hope we all forget, and make up for it will a whole new palette of colors in shiny pop lacquer and more subtle mid-century hues.
if they want to do something useful that will actually sell - make the Eames Lounge and Ottoman. at least made in USA copies would actually help achieve more of the Eames' mantra - "The most, to the most, for the least"
(sorry to be so scornful .. but, really.)
one thing is for sure: apartment therapy wastes not a single opportunity to put this chair in a posting. not once has this chair come across the AT computer screen and someone says, "not today".
I voted no, but I think it sort of works for the armchair, actually. Maybe because the legs are smaller in proportion to it, or maybe because the arms seem to reflect the curves on the legs.
It's definitely wrong for the other two, though.
Gross!
If I remember right, it was Frank Lloyd Wright who referred to ornately carved wood as wood that's been tortured. That's what this is, for sure.
love it....Not! maybe the arm chair can work with the right color but definitely not with the side chair.
doesnt look right with the wire chair...looks so mismatched!
Im a big Modernica fan but what the heck were they thinking?
They have a little bit of a Frankenstein appeal to me. If I found this at a yard sale, I would buy it because it was interesting. It's almost in the "so bad it's good" category.
That said, I think it is a terrible idea to mass produce these.
What a lack of imagination. Really.
horrendous.
Not
at all
wow its bad
Oh, the humanity!
Interesting, but classic is classic. Don't mess with it.
I like mixing modern and antiques, but not in the same piece of furniture.
This is absolutely awful. It looks like a junk-store piece.
