We spotted this unique headboard solution at Living Etc., but can't decide if we love it or hate it. Or maybe we're just meh about it? Hmm...What do you think? Hot or not?

I could go either way on the split headboard, but the lamps hanging straight down with no apparent way to actually direct them to one's reading material are making my eyes hurt.
As a headboard, I'm not so hot on it. It feels rather...divisional. As a wall decoration, I think it's awesome! Honestly, if it were something hanging above the bed, I think it would be perfect.
Yeah, the lamps kinda bug me too.
the lamps would appear to shine their light onto where slippers might go, so you can find them at night! LOL... ;P
hot
i think it's attractive ---but not for me. it looks as if it would be the cause of a splitting headache each morning, to me.
Not
Split headboard = split relationship. It can also lead to schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder.
Yeah, I can see myself waking up every morning with my head lodged between those two things.
Btw with all the symmetry in the room you figure the fabric on the headboards should be centered as well.
It works with the whole super-symmetry look. I think it's hot. Also like the pattern-on-pattern play. Yes, the lamps and the clutter on the night stands can go. But I understand that it's a process. The room is too lush to claim minimalism, so it seems a bit self-consciously restrained. With the lushness of the bed, the lamps need more presence. Some of that pattern needs to extend to the walls. I would love to see the room a year from now. There's obviously a lot of taste, creativity, and talent at work in that home.
It really divides the bed in half, I prefer more unity.

I have no issue with the split, but I think the headboard panels are too tall. I'd think I'd like them better if they were also split horizontally into four pieces. I like the furniture and the bed linens very much.
I like the positioning of the lamps, but I think they're way too small - the shades should be much larger and more airy.
I think I like it, but on the other hand it just misses the mark somehow, not sure why.
It doesn't really look to bad but it's definitely bad relationship feng shui. If you care about that kind of stuff, which in this case I do.
oh dear god, perfect for the couple who are stuck in a loveless relationship.
ugh, most definitely NOT hot.
Not hot, but interesting.
i think a single sturdy headboard would be better at least so you don't have to rest your head on either the left or right side of the bed to read a book. i'm not good at staying on "my" side of the bed though. i tend to move around in my sleep alot and that space in between the boards just doesn't look comfortable.
umm yeah i totally agree this is bad relationship feng shui
...try getting it on in a bed with that headboard. everything could be going soooo great....and then someone's head bangs into the gap in between the boards. that could get annoying
the bedspread is pretty though. where is that from?
not
I think the design makes it look worse than it actually is. Most people don't need the headboard in the center of the bed anyway, so I doubt it's a big loss in functionality. It might look better or more interesting if it were mimicking a few pictures or a better design instead of an ugly print.
What is it though with all the super tall headboards? Personally, I like a lower one.
definitely not - they seem like tombstones
Agree w/the tombstone comment. It's all terribly vertical and looks hard and uncomfortable.
I'm amused at the comments regarding the headboard being symbolic of the relationship. I love the colors, patterns, AND especially the split. It breaks up the chunkiness of such a massive piece and helps define each individual's space.
where's the not button?
All I can see is books and glasses and DS styluses and goodness knows what else falling down between them. I already lose enough crap behind and under my bed. A new crevice is all I need.
all i can see is a marvelously inexpensive way to decorate my guest room. i think it's great!

I like the low drop lights. They are even romantic. The night glow from them must be charming.

Hate it.
Funny to read all the comments, when I looked at it, I thought "what a cool way to make a headboard out of fabric that is sewing width, not decorator width." I don't like fabric headboards with seams, but there are so many more cute fabrics in the sewing/quilting section of the fabric stores.
So, hot or not? Not ideal, but a great compromise if that is the fabric you want.
I'm not a hater at all. I think that two headboards (which equals two people) and one bed (which equals one union) is a really beautiful design element. If the crevice bothers some, centering the fabric so that the center creates one complete flower would be a really nice touch (again reinforcing the idea of unity). I also appreciate the mix of fabrics. More substantial lighting on either side that disperses an even glow would be more functional than very small accent lighting. Small chandeliers would be gorgeous. Overall, I appreciate this risk. It's hot.
Meh kind of sums it up for me. I could live with it if the headboard(s) weren't so high, but it just looks kind of strange.
