This giant outdoor floor lamp made us giggle. We love the crazy scale and its referral to interior lighting design...
But let's be honest, at $14,076, no one we know is going to be using this gargantuan lamp (available from Limn) for their outdoor lighting. Still, we find the Superarchimoon conceptually inspiring and endearing. How about you?

silly!
This is so funny, I just wrote a similar post about a similar lamp on my sometimes-about-design blog! Haha!

I'd rather be able to see the moon and stars...
I also love how ridiculous it is! It's one of those things where you like it when you see it in a store or a museum, but no one would actually use it for themselves.
The outdoors should be about the outdoors, this looks more at home on someones desk... a really big desk, in a really big office
Like it? Love it, but if I had that kind of money to splash out on outdoor lighting, it would have to be solar-powered. Really impressed with the range of solar powered lighting available at Ikea... and it's more in my price range.
Of course, there's a pretty obvious downside to having a huge garden light... well, obvious to anyone who, like me, has made the mistake of leaving windows open at night while the indoor lights are on... yeah, the moths would definitely vote "Hot" for that mammoth moth magnet!!!
the lamp is hot, the price is definitely not.
no on the lamp but I like the chairs!
For me it's the lampshade that doesn't work. I mean, those type of lamps never have a dorky shade like that. I love the chairs, though.

Not for the outdoors. I prefer sitting in 'the dark' (though in a city, it's never really dark outside) or by candle or lantern light.
I love the way the lamp looms. Like it's just waiting for someone to sit down, and then.... you know, like a velociraptor.
It's like a really big Pixar lamp. If the Pixar headquarters has an outdoor space they should totally order these.
But I also agree about the lampshade. Not quite right.
Invasive.
I have always loved this lamp. I'm pretty sure RTLK has it in their Seattle office. I tried to use it once on a project. The price made it a no go.
It creeps me out. The giant size makes me think a giant spider is going to crawl out from the bushes and eat me. Or aliens will descend from the skies and probe me.
Looks like cujo
I have the indoor version of this lamp. We bought it seven years ago for our loft with 20' ceilings. It was fabulous. But then we moved to a regular house. It is now bent over our dining table, and still fabulous.
I adore the outdoor version.
