Do I have to ask? The Couch Dress from Pantalaine: I can't figure out whether or not these people are serious. This dress kind of makes its wearer into a "toaster cozy" for the couch. Geez.

I would imagine this would be a good option for those 700 lb people who simply CANT leave the couch....
How did this get so many votes so quickly???
this appears to be several crocheted afghans sewn together.
either a joke, or totally not worth $350...
if it were real, i do have to say it would be so lovely and warm to curl up in on a winter night. except you could do the same thing with a bunch of afghans. so i'm confused.
If I were to create this in order to keep me toasty warm in the winter I'd use long sleeves. I'd also use faux-fur throws in either dark brown or ivory color. I'd charge a hellofalot more money.
When Crocheters Attack
Wish you hadn't posted this at lunchtime. Or at least with a warning for the squeamish.
If you look at the rest of their website, it's pretty obvious that this is meant as a joke.
where would another person sit? On top of the dress or under?
Very Ugly Betty.
Depends on how friendly you are with the other person.
Looks like a giant hackey sack.
Oh Lordy, Lordy...
Really now...
There is conceptual, and then there is this...
Are you kidding me? And who is voting "hot" for this? Are you people on crack?
Can you magine going to the door in the Couch Dress? It would scare the pizza man to death. But if he threw the sausage deep dish at you during his retreat from the door, at least the stains wouldn't show.
Well this surely cleansed the pallette..
This could be an Amish answer to naked couches!
Jaw-dropping that this got so many "Hot" votes. I can only imagine the truly hideous couch that is underneath and my skin is crawling.
P(too) lives!
Where did all the hot votes come from????? Is this a late "trick ro treat"?
I voted hot because it made me laugh for the first time in days!
Too funny!
This has got to be a goof-check out the address and then use the satellite map (Google)-it's out in a remote suburban area (the woods).
um, that whole plural clothing thing is pretty weird.
Why wasn't this posted BEFORE Halloween?
Somebody must have started lacing the tea at the weekly Stitch 'n' Bitch.
Actually, it's pretty hilarious, as is most of the clothing on the site. They would be funny gag gifts - I could actually see gifting a few of the items to some annoyingly clingy/PDA-type couples.
It's so fabulously hideous I had to vote HOT
If she's so chilly, she should have crocheted herself some sleeves!
This. Is. AMAZING!!!!!!!
I'm so wearing this to prom!
A Whois search on the domain pantalaine.com turns up registrant Brian McMullen.
You can read all about him at the link in my sig.
Ugh! I'm so confused!!?!?!?
I'm cracking up. I recognized this at once. It's from McSweeney's issue 17, the one that looks like it came in the mail. Absolutely a joke, and just one very small part of a brilliant publication every quarter.
about what ptoo was saying --
If this dress were made with two bodices it could be very interesting on a cold night.
