We know this is Pet Month here on AT but we thought we'd momentarily shift focus from our furry friends to those other living things that we share space with: trees. Don't they deserve a little love, too?

Tree Jewelry is the current art exhibit at the Hamptons Parrish Art Museum Garden Tour and poses the simple question, "When was the last time your favorite tree demanded anything from you? Attention? Conversation? Compliments?"

I think it's a funny idea for an art exhibit!
But it reminds me of when we had a catepillar problem years ago, and people were wrapping bands of tinfoil around their trees.
I like it as an art exhibit, but I would hate it as actual garden decor.
Personally, I prefer tree sweaters.

I believe nature is truly beautiful so I don't think it needs any adornments but, I do see the humor in this if it's poking fun at the way people feel the need to adorn everything.

I see a whole grove with pearls--"the better trees'--in the middle of a forest.
I voted 'not' immediately and the first two pictures are indeed hideous (and ridiculous) but the last one has the potential to be elegant, say, if there was a huge group of those white-ish trees with the white-gold-looking necklace things. For the holidays or something.
I'm a jewelry designer and I voted NOT - now jeweled chimes hanging from a limb might work better, if anyone thinks that would sell - let me know and I'll start on them right away!
er, no, but I like the fundamental concept. How about flowers and vines woven together, with a pretty gold rope or ribbon. Something with a seasonal kick to it.
I voted "hot" because I've always been a sucker for garden follies, outrageous topiaries, and humorous plantings. In the right yard, these could be incredibly cool. However, in 99 percent of yards, they'd just look stupid, so it's not a very mainstream idea (except maybe at Christmas).
..well, now there's 4 of us that voted 'hot'..the silver is beautiful!..in a back yard/garden area...fun and pretty..especially at Christmas/winter
this is still bad after a few hours of first looking at it.
I like it as art, as even as amusing garden decor, but only for use on special occasions.
Or as street or guerrilla art - it would be fun to find a bunch of park trees mysteriously decked out one Sunday morning.
I don't even like this as art. It's not creative or beautiful, it doesn't push boundaries or ask questions....it's like the tampon exhibit the MOMA in Chicago used to (I hope it's not there anymore) have....it's just stupid.
It'd be fun for Mardi Gras season, but not year-round.
My trees refuse to wear anything costume.
I saw an ad for tree jewelry in Garden Design mag a few months ago and seem to remember fairly ridiculous prices, so I guess I'm coming at this from a different angle... I just thought, oh god, materialism has reached new heights.
For mardi gras, though (at a reasonable price), it would be cute. Jezebella's comment reminds me of these trees I noticed on a campus where the students had thrown all their beads on the trees from the second story windows. It was kind of neat. Not often does drunken revelry produce something beautiful.
