These hand-painted "Louis" trompe l'oeil canvas panels attach to your walls to create some ironic architectural details on homes that have none. There's also a "slipcover" for your fireplace. We don't mind the wall panels, but can't really imagine slipcovering a fireplace...
The arrangement also seems a little pricey — the panels start at $999.
If you find the panels hot, you can purchase them from Ridiculous Design.

Sharpie interior mural -- $10. [Okay, I'm kidding but, although these slipcovers are fun and funny, the pricetag seems steep for what they are, making them "not hot" in my book.]
Maybe in a place that doesn't have any architectural details (I've seen this work in show houses), but this place already did have architectural features, and the mix isn't good.
I don't mind the idea so much, but this particular execution leaves me cold.
Great for a set design, lousy for a living space.
The idea amuses me, but this looks like the chalk sketching of a child.
I have been trying to figure out what to do to disguise the extraordinarily plain/ugly brick on the fireplace in my rented apartment. While I'm not rushing to buy these, I'm a good enough seamstress to tailor a heavy muslin cover for my fireplace that would fit it much better than the one shown. I envision using stamps, fabric paint, and stencils to come up with minimal decoration (not faux architectural details!) and then Scotchgaurding the whole thing. If I include zipper/buttons/hook-and-loop fasteners, I could take it off and toss it in the washing machine. I can't wait to try this!
IMO - Trompe L'oeil is perfect for a Palladian Villa...
...everywhere else, it's a joke that falls flat.
As someone who has thought of/is thinking of make-shift wall treatments, this execution is just not good enough. it could still remain humorous even if it's actually done well, like a real decorative painting job.
I want to like it, really I do.
Me too. Good in principle, execution bad.
I like it.
It would be a great solution for my currently hideous bathroom walls that probably won't be renovated for another year IF it weren't for the price.
I thought they were cute paintings, or at least wallpaper. Which was cute. But hanging all that fabric (especially around the fireplace) is just ick.
yuck. Was Debbie Travis in on this? It's horrible. I can't stand Trompe L'oeil. Sorry, don't mean to be rude.
It isn't the look for everyone.....but I adore it! What complete fun.
Not liking so much to live with this...but maybe if they were trompe l'oeil in the true sense ~ I do think this would probably be very nice on a stage set; I could even see it it a shop, perhaps.
