Oh, I keep forgetting to look at the price first. Maybe lukewarm, at $135.

posted by Joan A. on 12.20.07 at 05:14AM

Unless there are actually 12 of them. Then that would be hot.

posted by Joan A. on 12.20.07 at 05:15AM

Joan A., wait till after Christmas - they definitely won't be $135 then.

posted by Erin K. on 12.20.07 at 05:19AM

And the website says they're unavailable, so it's a moot point.

posted by Joan A. on 12.20.07 at 05:30AM

I like them, but I think I would like them more if they were round or square, not both.

Cute idea, but these are bad...

I really wanted to get these for my mom, who loves this kind of thing and who would actually USE these. But, I couldn't afford them. I do love them though.

Knowing that someday, these will be held up for ridicule as examples of the appalling taste of the '00s gives me fresh hope for the future.

sorry, all! the product was available when i created this post.
i'll dig around and see if they are sold elsewhere, for anyone who finds them hot and affordable.

posted by heather on 12.20.07 at 05:54AM

They are a Rosanna product. rosanna.com and all 12 are available for $96. They are an appetizer plate.

posted by nsflax on 12.20.07 at 05:58AM

Well, even with the mark-up, it's only $11 a plate, so it's not really all that expensive. And 'tis the season to be tacky. Not what I would do for holiday decor, but far from the worst things I've seen.

posted by JonathanB on 12.20.07 at 06:10AM

Apalling? Hardly.

I am not a fan of the hot or not vote on something so intentionally whimsical and holiday-related.

posted by patrick (the other one) on 12.20.07 at 06:22AM

agree. I think these are perfect for what they are. An appetizer plate intended for a festive holiday party. Hot!

posted by Andijl on 12.20.07 at 06:48AM

Holiday themes are exempt from the tacky standard? That explains so much.

posted by cmcinnyc on 12.20.07 at 07:11AM

Not from the tacky standard, no, but I don't see the need to label everything in such a do-or-die way, since taste and holiday decor is so highly personal, and whatever way anyone chooses to express joy and welcome this year is fine by me.

posted by patrick (the other one) on 12.20.07 at 07:28AM

Hot to look at. Not on the wallet.

posted by Miss Sassy on 12.20.07 at 08:34AM

Over priced and ghastly.

posted by Kurt on 12.20.07 at 11:33AM

A bit pricy, but I like the collage effect--looks very cool.

My biggest problem with all my christmas stuff is that I can only use them one month out of the year and have to store the entire collection for 11 months.
