We're kind of digging this wallpaper on the cabinets look from our new favorite magazine, Inside Out. What about you?
If you dig the look, you might want to try removable wallpaper.

gross.
The idea itself is good...
...I'm just not digging the Old-Lady wallpaper.
ok, in theory this is hot. all of those options!
in reality, those flowers have got to go!!!
I'm sure they could be "Hot" if done well but, when you use a picture like that as the example, it's hard for people not to say, "Not".
That print is horrendous. Looks like they wallpapered the fridge too? OVERKILL.
It makes me stutter, but it looks like it was carefully applied and surely it must look better than what was underneath. I appreciate and applaud the effort. A less flamboyant pattern might have been more tasteful, but perhaps this wallpaper was on sale.
I've gotta agree. Also I'm not sure I could live with the same wallpaper for years and the thought of edges peeling and coming off due to wear and tear..? No thanks!
Great idea, very fresh. Kitchens have become so lookalike this decade.
ick.
Good heavens no.
I'm not opposed to the concept, but THAT wallpaper? Just say no.
too much...that would make my eyes bleed after a few days, especially since, as someone else pointed out, the fridge seems to be papered as well. ugh.
Those cabinets must have been hideous for this to be an improvement.
Maybe an example of good idea bad execution? I'm with bepsf on this one that the wallpaper choice is maybe a little too old lady. Nad also as dmh said its a bit of over kill. If the technique had been applied only to the base cabinets, with a more stylish (even if it was in the same floral vein), it would look much crisper.
Sorry, not digging this.
My first reaction was to laugh at that awful wallpaper. Now that I'm done with the laughing, I actually think it looks kinda hot!
executed with a little more restraint? sure
I think this is a great idea, but the rest of the house has to have the personality to pull it off. If the whole house looks "granny traditional", this is just going to look terrible, but if the rest of the house is ecclectic modern, then this will rock. The pattern choice is a fresh take on traditional and the fact that there are no handles makes it look modern..... The refrigerator is hideous.
awesomely bad.
not everything has to be 'tasteful'.
A resurgence of shoulder pads I can handle. A resurgence of hideous '80s wallpaper I cannot.
Maybe for a temporary measure (e g while waiting for a new kitchen) but not with this wallpaper.
I would have said heck yes if they had only wallpapered the bottom set of cabinets and painted the top set a coordinating color...
Yeah, what's the deal with the refrigerator? It looks like Christmas wrapping paper.
Um, so not digging this.
The idea itself is fine, just the execution is barforrific.
I can see using a nice abstract or geometric wallpaper print on the bottom cabinets say and leaving the uppers white or in a color that goes with the wallpaper but that'd be it and I'd ensure it won't peel off the cabinets during general use, which I suspect it would do.
In the end, I'd rather paint an accent color instead.
This photo makes me itchy, and I suddenly have an insatiable desire for hard candy. What about wet, greasy, cooks' hands pulling and pushing on cabinets every night and day, how is this going to hold up? Perhaps in a kitchen that is seldom used this could work.
Mod Podge over the paper would probably make the cabinets cleanable...
Interesting idea, but the pattern makes my eyes itch.
It is different. I like it.
Love the idea. Hate the execution. Agree that a layer of Modge Podge or similar finishing coat would be needed.
Oh dear, that's awful!
Note to self: how to kill design snobs... cheesy wallpaper...
I like the cabinets but the fridge is too much.
The only problem with the paper is that it is impossible to clean. Kitchen cabinets may not be the best place to utilize this look. I like the end result though.
Holy Cow NO!
oy
Not.
That room could give me a seizure.
Urgh !!!
Even my 6 year old stuck her tongue out at the picture!
Whatever people. Thanks so much for turning me on to Inside Out!
so not
Evidently this is very effective strategy to pull focus from the glossy blood red floor. No one has even mentioned that monstrosity.
its horrible.
I've been planning to wallpaper my horrendous kitchen cabinets. My plans include a wallpaper a little less edgy. My sister suggested something that looked like a grass cloth. Because it's a rental and I am conserving resources, I want to go with wallpaper that is low cost. My deposit is low, and I frankly don't care what the landlord thinks, because they're going to rip all of these ultra-ugly cabinets out when I go.
This person obviously wanted something over-the-top. His or her choice is not one I would make, but you've got to give him or her marks for boldness, originality, and execution.
Its not bad...although the choice of wallpaper is making my eyes bleed a bit. I'm more concerned that this will be a re-do of all that tacky nasty contact paper people feel the need to slap on every surface. Hope they ain't renters.
I'm with cardboardbox -- at first I laughed, but now I kind of like the look. (The details about application are everything, so I'm just talking about the look not wearability. Presumably they weren't so naive as to not seal it or properly adhere it...) I HATE the fridge, but adding pattern to the otherwise white space isn't all bad, and I'm oddly fond of the chintz pattern for some totally irrational reaason!
I love it! And everyone else's comments are making me laugh! :)
LOVE IT. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
