Hot Tip: MyDeco.com's "Plan My Room" Feature

An email we received yesterday alerted us to the existence of MyDeco.com, and it took all of five minutes for us to become completely obsessed.

Based in the UK, MyDeco bills itself as "a furniture fix for the decorati", and offers more than a few exciting features...

As the site is still in beta, certain functions can be a little shaky, but so far we love what we see. In addition to the now requisite social networking features, MyDeco offers an online magazine (gossip column!), catalog and "Buy The Look" sections, and, in what will surely lead to hours of lost productivity at work, the "Plan My Room" feature.

"Plan My Room" is surprisingly advanced for a web-based floor plan creator; it's 3D rendering capabilities are way ahead of the pack, and it's paint, carpeting, wallpaper and furniture collections all correspond to actual items available for purchase through over 650 retailers and independent designers. You can also upload photos of your actual home to add or edit color schemes, new arrangements and additional pieces of furniture - a feature we haven't seen elsewhere.

The only downside here is that most of the products available for use and purchase are UK-based, and while some stores (The Conran Shop, Andrew Martin) have showrooms stateside, most do not.

Bonus creativity points go to SylviaAst for creating this "Help America Soar" room, using Andrew Martin letter side tables, Sofa Workshop footstools, and Blik wall graphics.
