Hotel Fox is not news, but it works so well with Apartment Therapy's Small Spaces
theme this month, that I wanted to share it in case you hadn't seen it. In 2005 Volkswagen set out to promote their smallest vehicle, the Fox, and in a brilliant publicity stunt, overtook a Denmark hotel by commissioning 21 international artists to create fantastical hotel room atmospheres.
The hotel was then used to room journalists and press for a month during the Fox launch, and was later returned back to the owners and opened to the public.
Themes and styles of the rooms range from majestic to minimalist, from boyish to ultra feminine. The commissioned artists work in a variety of media including photography, graphic design, performance art, painting, and illustration and in many cases, I would guess, had never designed a hotel room before this. Their wide ranging talent and sphere of influence has resulted in sleeping quarters with notable and refreshing personality.
