Name: Scott
Location: San Diego
When I moved from Brooklyn to San Diego to join my partner, an anthropology professor at UCSD, I was sure we wouldn't be able to instill a real sense of style and interest in our tiny beach bungalow. We are Brooklyn cyclists, not SoCal surfer boys.
But with a little paint and creativity, and open-mindedness about embracing succulents, I think we've made something unique and modern, while still welcoming and cozy.
Thanks, Scott!

Love the colors you've chosen - especially the bright blue bookcase. I also *love* the bicycle artwork in the bedroom.
My. Dream. Home.
Oh My! I *must* have those bicycle prints in the bedroom! Where can I find them?
ohelisabeth - I'm pretty sure the bicycle artwork is from one of my favorite etsy shops:

I just want to give up my entire life and move in there. Seriously. So restful!!
Nice gray color on bedroom's walls! Do you know that color's name? thx!
ditto. Love the paint in the bedroom. Mind to share the source with a fellow san diegan? =)
Mmmm San Diego, UCSD.. this almost makes me miss my grad school days there :)
This is so comfortable and inviting. Makes me think of bare sandy feet and wet towels drying on beach chairs in the backyard. Shhhhhhh, I'm dreaming.......
Kevin's got a nice home!
that is the exact gray i want to paint my friend's bedroom. i'm helping him with his new condo and he has zero idea what to do. i told him i would take care of everything for him since he trusts me.... he's on the road a lot so basically i have to make the decisions for him. thanks for sharing!
rainie: although that etsy link is awesome (thanks for it!), i don't think that's where he got those bike prints. they're too large. i think they're from here:

... Another AT house call which should be a house tour. I want to see how those lightbulbs above the plants look when they are lit in the evening. Where did you find the pillow cases?
@rainie - both your link and the Etsy shop are one and the same.
Bicycle prints! They are from an amazing artist, and friend of mine, Taliah Lempert. Like Scott, whose awesome bungalow we are looking at, she is a Brooklyn cyclist. Here is her full website: http://www.bicyclepaintings.com/
She also does commissions if you want a painting of YOUR bike!
Where is the couch from?
I like the use of white, and the art placed at non-standard levels. And also those flour bag (?) cushions.
Hey Scott! It's Jocelyn....I have fond memories of sitting on that couch at Christmastime! Hope you and Joe are doing well and having lots of outdoor parties on the patio!
Wow, thanks folks. Just got back from a weekend camping trip to see these nice comments. To answer a few questions --
Yes, mrsplashypants, the prints are from one of my favorite artists, Taliah Lampert: http://www.bicyclepaintings.com/
The pillows are an old soybean sack I found at a flea market, cut in half and sewn into pillows by an amazingly crafty friend Jackie Bos: http://www.etsy.com/shop/jackiepeppermint
We also made the light fixture with the bare edison-style bulbs (on a dimmer) which gives off a great light at night.
The grey-blue paint is Behr Gray Area 770F-4 from Home Depot; the blue bookshelf and sofa are from Ikea.
The kitchen art, which you can see part of, is a photo of my cousins and I as kids, blown up to about 3x5' and split into 6 11x17" frames. Fun to have it at hip-height next to the sink!
Thanks again folks, and hi Jocelyn & Miki! Come back/by for a visit anytime. Grin.
Scott
Fantastic place - and my hubby will be so psyched to get a portrait of his beloved bicycle(s) - thanks for the head's up! Nice job Scott!
What's not to love? Looks very stylish AND comfortable. *Envy*
looks so confy
How do we get Scott and others in San Diego to join us for the AT San Diego Meetup on June 9???
How does the little shelf work?
I believe that smoke detector in the upper corner is in a dead spot- the smoke doesn't go into corners, so the detector is useless.
I love your home! As an Ocean Beach transplant to Philadelphia, it brings back many awesome memories. Which beach are you on (maybe Mission?)? You guys did a great job making your home comfy and beachy. Really love everything about it! No surfboard required, right. . .
One of my favourite house tours: simplicity combined with individual features and colours to keep it interesting.
No one seems to have said anything about the floors. They are stunning and rather a surprise in a bungalow. Yes? Or was this something you added. How large is the house? Wish it had been a more complete tour. I think I'm missing things.
Hi Scott,
I am curious about the bike prints. I went at the site you posted and they are 6X11. The ones on your Wall looks much bigger. Is this size right? the same as yours?
Thank you,
Vanny
Sorry for all the questions. What # are your prints? There are 36 of them after starring they all look alike.
Would you mind telling me?
Thanks, again
Vanny
Great place, Scott! I'm jealous of all the light you get. Also, that Edison bulb fixture is AWESOME! I've made a few industrial style lamps with the squirrel-cage bulbs and I love seeing how others mount them and such.
Hi Vanny, I'm glad you're checking out the bike prints. Ours are 11x30" (which fit nicely into one of Ikea's RIBBA frames, btw, which ours are in until we can get them custom framed someday). They're all original, one-of-a-kinds, so no two are alike.
Thanks everyone!
wonderful place, the pillows so nice and I truly adore the gray walls
is the shell chair comfy?
