Name: Rachel
Location: Rocklin, California
In our neighborhood, we are the one house that stands out as different (from the inside-we have HOA's and can't do much outside). We love our white cabinets and we just recently redid our floors with an antique looking handscraped laminate wood flooring...it looks fabulous with everything.
I get a lot of my inspiration from blogs that I read daily and my love for everything vintage. I also love bright colors because they just make me happy. My husband and I have two young children and we want our house to feel just as much as theirs as it is ours, so we try not to make anything too formal, but more fun for everyone. The only problem we had to overcome was ripping out the old tile and carpet from our house...there was lots of dust and just pure chaos while trying to be a functioning family of four as well.
Thanks, Rachel!

what's the brand and style of flooring? i love it!
I like this home, what little we see of it. It just goes to show that you can live in a cookie-cutter house and still stay true to your sense of style.
That blue is warm yet bright and love the floors.
A lot of this isn't my style, but I LOVE light blue and white together. It's the perfect combination.
Can you tell us where the buffet/hutch in the dining room is from? Looking for something exactly like it...
Love the kitchen table and chairs! Where can I find these?
love the color, any tips on what it is?
I don't usually like blue walls because they make me feel cold (and I'm always, ALWAYS cold already!), but this is just so beautiful. What color is it, please?
the shelves above the sofa are too small for the picture frames
I'm pretty sure the chairs are IKEA, the table must be something else... maybe they painted the base?
This looks like a happy and lovely home, not just a house!
paint color? please, please, please. it is simply beautiful. elegant and playful for your children. great house!
thanks
Thank you for the compliments and great feedback...our house is always evolving. (I do agree about the picture frame shelves...I am brainstorming for that area....) As for the color, it is Lisbon Blue by Ralph Lauren. The flooring is from Costco..It is Antique Hickory by Harmonics Flooring. The chairs are from Ikea, but the table we had custom made for us by an amazing guy in Vermont...(I will try and remember his name). The hutch in the dining area is a vintage piece from my grandmother that I painted (I have seen similar at antique stores)...thank you, thank you!!
It is a chalkboard....we hope to do a white subway tile backsplash soon...that will be our next little project...thank you!
Hi...when I saw the floors I was so sure they were the Swiftlock Plus (handscraped) laminate from Lowes. That's what we have in our home in AZ...(no I'm not the type that has multiple homes...just stuck with a starter house I bought before the real estate bubble. pooey)
I highly recommend handscraped laminate flooring. This house is a great example how nice it can look! Also, the floors I bought from Lowes have stood up to three large dogs that rarely ever had trimmed nails - I'm sure Costco's products are just as durable if not better. I love Costco. I will definitely look there next time i plan on purchasing flooring.
oops. forgot to mention I too am always cold but the blue walls in this home don't at all make me feel "cold(er)". Great job!!
I grew up in Rocklin! So fun to see what you've done with a traditional Rocklin house :)
i can't believe that i missed this post! i grew up in rocklin too... thank GOD someone is doing something original and personal in a Rocklin home. there is just so. much. stucco. and pottery barn. not that there's anything wrong with pottery barn. i love what you were able to do with color against a consistent backdrop of blue and white, it really makes the colors pop.
also, i love ina garten and think her book is a fabulous touch in your kitchen :)
