Names: Johnny & Stacie
Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
The space is located in a historic building in lowertown Saint Paul that has been the Tilsner Artist Cooperative for about 15 years and was built in the 1800's. We have lived in the space for a little over two years and love the exposed beams, tall ceilings, wood floors, and 1300 sqaure feet. Our style is eclectic and is a mix of modern and mid-century with a small collection of antiques for character and a few inexpensive, clean ikea pieces.
Stacie is an art teacher and Johnny is a graphic designer and we are both active artists and consider ourselves part of the indie craft scene as well. Most of the art in our home is created by us, but we have also started to build our art collection with other artists as well. Living in an artist cooperative and both have degrees in art has allowed for some trading opportunities and inexpensive art purchases.
We are both furniture design geeks and love finding deals on furniture. We have been lucky enough to score some great mid-century finds on Craig's list as well as our blu dot furniture from the factory sale located right in the twin cities.
Color is also something that we really love and we enjoy combining bright pops of color with neutral white walls and warm wood floors. Our living space is very important to us and it has taken us a lot of time to finally get to a place where we are feeling comfortable with it. However, we're always thinking about and getting excited for the next project.
Thanks Johnny & Stacie!

Shaw's Original Fir...
The Tilsner is a really nice building. The floor-plans and spaces are just beautiful. Its also a great neighborhood. With the St. paul Art Crawl and all... its great!
i totally want that flat file cabinet >.<
They have my little dream terrier!
Perfectly imperfect color use (God that sounded snooty). In the last picture the very slight use of blue is fantastic... until you put the blue cup in the kitchen. Never rely on movable objects like cups or books or fresh flowers for color.
Or people. Like a sunburned guest.
Laughing Tiger: Where do you see a blue cup in the last pic? The blue item next to the sewing machine is a little glass Ikea lamp. I recognize it because I have the same one in blue ;-)
I would give my eye teeth to have that HUGE sewing/crafting table. Lovely home and super adorable pup. Thanks for posting!
So fun to see Johnny & Stacie's place on AT! When I first walked into it I imagined it on these pages :)
I am in awe of that bike storage! Is it a hack, or did you purchase a kit somewhere? please share!
Also, I understand you might have tidied for the picture...don't your bikes drip on the floor/furniture nearby? do you have a rug or a cleaning system?
oooh, would love to know where the Dinosaur artwork came from!!
Anyone know where the dining and console tables are from?
Love the deer head and the artwork next to it.

Beautiful!
The Herman Miller chair looks exactly like the one I sold last summer on Craig's list. Infact, the lady who bought it drove from Minnesota down to Iowa for it. Stacie, was that you? It is fun to see one just like it on Apartment Therapy.
