Name: LaurieAnna
Location: Canton, Texas
Our home is a 1930s cottage in a small Texas town. It has 1085 square feet, the kitchen measures 9' x 13'. When we purchased it, the kitchen had a stove, a sink, 2 upper cabinets and 2 lower cabinets. That's it. It was in deplorable condition as you will see in the before photos.
We completely renovated the space and without changing the footprint of the room were able to add enough storage and built in appliances to rival many kitchens in large homes.
Since the house was built in the late 30s, we wanted the space to have a "vintage modern" feel so we blended elements from both styles.
Thanks, LaurieAnna !

Shaw's Original Fir...
Cute!
beautiful job!
ah, specifically love that last photo with a closeup up of the shades and tile.
Very nice. Oh how I miss First Mondays!
Wow, unbelievable! This is such an amazing transformation! I love it! Yellow Tulips are my fave!
great pantry door
Duchamp's bottle dryer ?
oh my god, this is the cutest kitchen i've ever seen! Nice Job!!!
Amazing!! I'm in love!
I like how in the first before picture, they were storing paint cans above the oven. What a strange thing to store in the kitchen! The remodel looks great and is a huge improvement.
What a lovely, and very personal space! I doubt you'd find any of your neighbors with the same kitchen. (And I mean that it the best possible way!)
Love it! Wish I had a window in my lil kitchen. But to get anywhere close to your results I'd have to gut it out, redo plumbing in half the house and add my dream window. :)
SO fantastic. Your vision was amazing and executed with perfection. Congrats on a lovely, lovely room!
Love your tin backsplash! Good transformation.
This is such an inspiration. I absolutely love it as I'm sure you do. Thanks for sharing.
It feels and looks like a market! How fun is that.
much better.
I absolutely LOVE this!!!
I like the green stove.
It's cute, and overall I love the room. I am kind of jealous, actually.
Only thing is is that I really hate the whole writing-words-or-phrases-on-walls things. It needs to die. Now. Also, I don't like when people draw attention to the fact that they know a couple of words in a foreign language, or are drawn to a certain language. I see what they are going for but unless it is very, very subtle, it is generally just a huge miss and can be obnoxious or cheesy.
This kitchen is super gorgeous! I like the writing above the door. I think it's charming.
In general, I'm sick of the chalkboard paint trend, but this kitchen is so beautiful, I even like the chalkboard painted on the upper panel of the door.
I see what they are going for but unless it is very, very subtle, it is generally just a huge miss and can be obnoxious or cheesy.
I agree with you in principle, Eemmiillyy, but I don't think LaurieAnna has gone over the top here. She's created the French cafe look with relatively few accessories - really just the sign, the clock and the lightfittings. The important thing is that items like the wrought iron plate stand, the lined baskets and the flowers add to the look while not being specifically of the look themselves.
One thing I really like is how LaurieAnna split the oven and the gas burners, preventing the visual intrusion of a monolithic stove jutting out of a line of cabinets.
Lovely work!
amazing transformation... it might be even more beautiful and comfortable with fewer accessories on display
I think that's the most beautiful kitchen I've ever seen.
Well done.
The more I revisit your pictures, the more inspired I feel to fix up my kitchen. I live in a 100 year old craftsman style bungalow... with a similar kitchen issue. I think I am going to do some brainstorming tonight! Thanks for sharing :)
Somehow I missed the post...what a nice surprise today! Thank you for all the encouraging comments, we are thrilled to see the space featured here.
Just a bit of information regarding the word art in the kitchen. Our cottage is named, 5th Place Cottage, which was the inspiration for the painted words.
It's nice to get the perspective of others, thanks so much for sharing!

Looks like a parisian cafe. Love it!
