Name: Danielle
Location: Arlington, Virginia
As I look through all of the house tours that you showcase I notice a common thread...used furniture. My home epitomizes that. Everything has a story and everything is either from my parents (who traveled around the world), craigslist or, to be frank, from the trash.
I have been known to stop at random to check out people's trash on trash day and have my 9 year old son doing the same thing. He recently spotted a fabulous 80's cane chair that I need to fix up. I am sending a few pictures, but need to take more. As I am sure is the case for so many, my home is ever changing.
Thanks, Danielle!

I love that sofa.
I love that sofa too.... it's wonderful and exactly what I'm looking for!
What a great place - Everything works so well together!
sofa for me, too, please!!!! I want a tour!
You have done a marvelous job with your gently used furniture.
I , too, love the sofa. And your colors.
charming and happy home and again love the colors they are so unexpected.
this is the second time today I have seen a rug in that shade see Lonny mag this month and it looks fantastic here.
Love the neutral wall colors used in this space. So many apartments can't be painted and look kind of sterile. This shows they can be warm and comfortable too.
Lovely place. Fabulous sofa and kilim. Interesting armoire.
Your living room really reminds me of my own. I like your style. ;)
very pretty rooms. Would you mind telling me where you picked up that great white chinese armoire in the bedroom? and - if you finished it yourself, can you tell me how you did it? thanks a million.
jacksonlalonde - the duvet is from Pottery Barn. it's also on sale...

love the neutral wall color in the living room! can you tell me what it is?? it's warm and bright, but subtle enough to have the bright pop of oranges against it.
Now, this? This is just lovely. It really feels like it took a long time for you to collect these things and put them together. It looks like you took your time and got stuff that really has meaning to you.
This looks like a real home to me, very comfortable. You should be very proud of yourself here, Danielle!
Wow...thanks everyone for the kind comments! The sofa was a craigslist find for dirt cheap.
surfjack...thanks so much! That is the look I am going for..comfortable for all and special meaning for me.
Lizzie343...ben moore - rainforest dew (my dining room is the darker version...pale avocado)
pmaxw00...those are a set of three cabinets and they are from Arhaus Furniture, one of the few things I have bought brand new. I looked forever for something like it, but to no avail. Not sure they carry them anymore..good luck!
love your bedspread in the last picture, and the armoire.
and wondering where the lampshade in the 3rd picture came from. it's just what i've been looking for to outfit a similar vintage lamp i own.
can i come over for tea? your house looks so comfortable and inviting. a place i'd love to spend some time!!!!
I love the way it all works so well together.
aprilheartsaaron...Thanks! I got the lamp at the flea market around the corner from my home and had it for 3 years before I found the perfect shade and it is from Pottery Barn. It is very difficult to find a vintage shade intact.
Two words - more PLEASE!
What a lovely house--so clear & spare and yet warm and inviting. You have a real gift.
I LOVE the black & white duvet in the last picture. Where is it from? I've been searching for something similar!
masonhall...it's actually a curtain panel that I made into a blanket and the colors are dark chocolate, cream and pale blue. Sorry couldn't help!
Wow! I'm in love! Your place is such an inspiration.
I must confess I love the fact everything has a story, is either a hand me down, from the trash or craigslist. I am doing my place and have a mix of new and old. I like the unexpected and the place feeling like a home. Its refreshing to see an individual style their homes on a budget rather than having some swanky stylist come in a 'meet to brief'. I say bravo, job well done, looks amazing.
Im in love with your purple rug... :)
Oh I am so jealous of the craigslist sofa! I don't even know what to put into the search for THAT lovely sofa to pop up. Sigh.
