I just moved into this loft conversion in what was once the old Southern Pacific Railway headquarters in downtown Houston...
The bedroom has these huge skylights — which is great — except if you are trying to sleep past 5am! The solution was a big cheap back-yard gazebo covering the bed. I hung a chandelier in the gazebo to dress it up. I had a very tight budget for decorating; everything is either from junk/thrift stores or Walmart, Target, or Ikea.
Thanks, Adam!

Your canopy solution is intriguing! I like it.
I say a house tour is in order. =)
It's like you have a fort in your bedroom! Fun! Simple, un-fussy places like this make me happy.
Looks amazing and even better after learning it was done on a tight budget. Can anyone tell me where the rug is from. Thanks!
What a fun and happy space! I believe the rug is Ikea. Does anyone know where the adorable yellow chair is from? I'm assuming a thrift shop in TX, sigh.
Such a HUGE fan of the loft lifestyle... Terrific job Adam!

Very creative solution. May I suggest painging the poles?
House tour!
@mhuggard: The rug is a popular IKEA rug: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80104862
I like how there is a lot of IKEA happening here but it does not look like a generic showroom. Nicely done!
Stunning. I love how you've mixed various sources of inexpensive furnishings to come up with an interesting design. On an aside, you should consider contributing these shots to IKEA Family Live Magazine's web site. They'd probably use these in a heartbeat!
I would LOVE a house tour of this place. Is that a rainbow Pittsburgh piece I see on the wall?
Absolutely love the way you made a 21st century 4-poster bed out of a gazebo, such a brilliant idea, it looks cosy yet also dramatic with the chandelier.
One thing about your "office wall" though, I think if you put the higher shelf on the right hand side rather than between the two desks it would look better. Having it in the centre gives that wall a cramped, triangular look.
I love that you have a camel saddle. I was an oil brat growing up. Lived in the U.A.E and Egypt for a long time. So that saddle makes me very, very happy. Thank you for that :)
I especially like the one brick wall framing the windows
@kyliecooney it looks like it's a Pittsburgh Paints's logo sign
the outdoor gazebo over the bed is a really cool idea
