Name: Amanda
Location: East Marion, New York
Hi, I think this would be an interesting home to feature because it's only 2 and a half hours out of NYC. It's accessible to NYC dwellers and it is in an area which is relatively undiscovered. The house was owned for over 40 years by one family and was treated with love and affection throughout! Nothing was changed structurally, and our home is a good example of what paint and a few mix and match pieces can do. We did some painting, changed the bathrooms, insulated, and we found that only the best materials and practices had been used making the job a lot easier and less costly.
Our home is right on the beach and the views are incredible! The beaches can still be empty even in the summer! The access to Shelter Island and the South Fork is easy and the ferry ride from Orient to New London is a great way to visit New England, Maine and Rhode Island.
Thanks, Amanda!
We've had amazing response to our Apartment Therapy House Tour Submission Form. While we will work with homeowners of our favorite homes to feature full tours, we will also share the best as House Calls — short, quick tours of readers' homes. Submit your home here.

Wow, this is a gem! Great job!
ooh i like this. i live very close to the ocean too - i love seeing seaside homes.
ps i think this post should be edited so that the first pic you see is of the bay window-seat w. the view. lovely.
Love, love, love it! I am wild for light and bright beach houses - and stripey rugs.
love it...cant get enough of blues and whites..and of course, beaches :)
I've been dreaming about living by the sea in the perfect beach house forever. Thank you. Absolutely perfect!
That view... I just about fell out of my chair. Congratulations on the new place!
It looks like the sort of home where stress would melt away as you walk through the door. Lovely. And the location... *sigh*
I vant it.
Gret view, and I love the limited color palette, which helps the eye focus on the outdoors. I am a bit tired of seeing the obligatory Series 7 knockoffs, but these are in a lovely color, and in a lovely home.
I'm wondering if by "accessible" you are also talking about price :) Your home is lovely and makes me green with envy. What is the home's style (ranch, cottage, etc)? Congrats!
oh man...
i LOVE this.
i want to move right in!
Would you be willing to share where you bought the dining chairs? I need them in barstools - exactly that color! Lovely home...
Rucy, the chairs are a rip-off of an Arne Jacobsen design. You can find them in many stores that sell "high design"-type work at lower prices.
Lovely! So beachy!
Thank you for the lovely comments. The chairs are from Room and Board $79, other colors available. The striped rug is one of lots of great designs from Dash and Albert. Anyone taking a drive out to this area (North Fork, Long Island) anytime, that likes this kind of look, should stop by white flower farmhouse (www.whiteflowerfarmhouse.com), a little treasure of a store on Peconic Lane.
What an awesome view .. coming from a fellow Long Islander! I am way jealous! I would do almost anything for a window a seat like that with that view! Holy cow, just gorgeous!
Hi Amanda, your space looks fantastic! Thanks so much for mentioning the shop-- and I'm so glad those pieces worked so well in your home! Hope to see you again.

I love the light and airy feel, but it would be nice if you'd vary the color and texture pallet a bit (a light tan and/or darker blue here or there). Very nicey done.
This is so soothing that every time I look at it...I fall in love with it again. It's is one of a small handful of tours I have in my 'saved' file. Thanks for sharing your home in pictures.
very relaxing!! it would be nice to see some pictures of the bathroom and the bedroom
