Name: Sarah and Allen
Location: Jackson Heights, Queens NYC
I recently moved into an apartment in Jackson Heights, New York with my boyfriend, Allen. This is our first apartment so we wanted to make the space something special. The apartment is a 541 square foot studio with an alcove. The challenge for us was to furnish the limited space so we could have a dining area, entertainment area, sleeping area and my workspace. Rather than partition the space, we chose to leave it open to increase the flow... The kitchen has all new appliances and is situated in one corner of the apartment. We used neutral colors contrasted with some dark brown furniture and window panels. Then I framed some artwork and photos and hung them where I felt they stood out. We prefer low-standing furniture so we purchased a sectional sofa, coffee table and bed frame which stand low. In contrast ,we decided to purchase a high table and bar stools for our dining needs because it feels more like its own space when elevated like that. Allen added the glass bar shelves in the corner to draw some attention to that area of the room. It comes with alternating colored lights which really stand out with dimmed lights and candles. As for decorative items we added some vases, wall-mounted candleholders and wall-mounted lights. We purchased an assortment of pillows to bring in some color and fluff to our apartment. All in all, we are really happy with the way our apartment turned out. It has exceeded our expectations and feels like home.
Thanks Sarah & Allen!
