We've shown you the garden and grounds of the Danish Ambassador's residence in DC — My Great Outdoors: The Danish Ambassador's Garden Paradise. Now we're showing you the stunning interior of the mid-century modern home. The residence was designed by Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1947 and officially opened in 1960, becoming the first modern Embassy building in Washington, DC...
More recently, the Danish Ambassador's residence became the first carbon-neutral Embassy in Washington, DC. The stunning glass chandeliers were designed for the residence. The decor is mostly mid-century modern though the Embassy is slowly replacing older pieces with newer designs. All the decor and building design represent Denmark and the exterior white marble came all the way from Greenland.

White Enamel Four-P...
After the near bordellos of the Italian and French ambassadors, it is wonderful to see a home that is lived in, yet expressive of national culture.
I love the chandelier of glass bells
i thought this would be somewhat impressive, but i found it rather blah.
This post taught me that there is marble for mining/extracting in Greenland. In all honesty, I would not have expected that.
Wow, swanky!
I'm most impressed at how well easily the traditional art and antiques are so well mixed with the MCM pieces within the envelope of this International Style building.
It seems that Europeans have much more design style than us Amuricans. I fear our ambassador residences abroad are filed with furniture from stores like Valu-City.
very nice & comfortable! love the chandelier.
Fear not david@justveggie. Amurica has a pretty goddam spactular ambassador's residence in Prague-so at least the Czechs this the Americans have style
i agree with liam's post.
Someday Scandinavians will rule the world. Discuss.
For a minute there I thoght I was in the Los Feliz home of my set designer friend.
Any idea who the artist is of the piece above the sofa in the main photo?
I would love to know the artist of the painting above the sofa also. Can the author of the post ask around?
hey
i would love their furniture if they are replacing them...scially the seating area (wood stuff)...droolllll
Love the pink egg chair - never thought of it in that color, but now I know I will dream about it.
