House of L & G: Fever Blues for Sad Pups

House of L & G: Fever Blues for Sad Pups

My one-year-olds have low fevers and are just sad little pups. No runny nose, no earache, nothing but the fever blues. Since fever is the body's way of fighting off infection etc, unless they are super uncomfortable, it's best to let it take its course.

But – you just want to do something!

I like to use certain essential oils to ease the fever blues. Lavender on a damp cloth is very soothing across the forehead and on the feet (make sure the lavender is properly diluted with water).

I also add a few drops to a spray bottle full of water and spritz their crib to promote a restful sleep (I put lavender on my pillow when I am restless and it is works).

When my sons have been congested, eucalyptus on a cloth near the crib has a decongestant quality. Be very careful to dilute the essential oil and wash your hands after using it – you NEVER want it to go directly onto your child.

The company I swear by is Young Living essential oils. They have an incredible blend called "Gentle Baby" that is lovely in the bath and whenever they are upset. I have often spritzed this on their crib and stroller. I believe young living is only sold through a distributor, but they will happily put you in touch with someone. Here's hopig you're not singing the fever blues. LMD
