Name: Lauryn Evarts and Michael Bosstick
Location: West Hollywood, California
Size: 1100 square feet
Years lived in: Owned 2 years

You may recognize Lauryn Evarts; she's the founder of The Skinny Confidential and a best-selling author. To say Lauryn's endeavor has been successful is an understatement: Since launching, she's also branched out into a fitness & nutrition eBook, podcast, YouTube channel, and more. If you were guessing that her home might be as bold and dynamic as her business is, you'd be right!

The home she shares with her fiance Michael features a mostly black and white color palette with funky elements and one-of-a-kind accessories. It's the combination of contrasts that makes this space so shocking and cool. Also, yes, that's a motorcycle hanging on the wall.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Our Style: In this condo it's a combination of very masculine blacks and whites and modern interior with feminine touches. We have a neon light on the wall that reads "yes but no but yes" and a 1970s Yamaha custom motorcycle hanging on the wall.

Inspiration: We wanted a place that felt like a man cave on steroids with a couple of feminine touches. A place where we could have a drink to settle down from the chaos in LA but also a space to recover and relax after a hard day of work and a long night of socializing.

Favorite Element: The motorcycle on the wall is definitely eye catching. When you walk in the building, you don't expect this condo to have what it does. It was designed specifically to shock people who walk into the space.

Biggest Challenge: The biggest challenge was utilizing each aspect of the space to get all of the features and amenities in place. We have a walk in closet, a dining area, & a full galley kitchen with washers and dryers. A bar sits to the side of the living room and the master bathroom has both a full jacuzzi tub and walk in shower. The patio is set up for socializing and is even equipped with heat lamps for those cold LA nights (do those exist?)

What Friends Say: Friends are shocked by the design of the space. When they walk in the door, they're surprised to see such an unexpected space in a building as old as ours. They love the contrast between dark and light. The functionality of the space usually shocks people because the place is not very big.

Biggest Embarrassment: The building's unit. The design of the hallways and exterior in the common areas is dreadful. HA. Let's just say the carpet in the hallways is kind of horrific.

Proudest DIY: All the space is functional, when we have guests over, the TVs are hidden inside remote controlled cabinets. A remote control lifts the TVs out of the hidden cabinets and also hides them when guests are over.

Biggest Indulgence: The bar is a full bar — it has every major liquor you can think of as well as many lesser-known liquors and bitters. We definitely use the bar more than we should. Michael started to get really into craft cocktails so this is his space to experiment when we are up here.

Best Advice: Utilize and lay out the space as best you can. We have made this space so livable and it's only 1100 square feet. It has 1.5 bathrooms so guests can use the restroom without having to go in the master. Layout is everything. You would be surprised to find how big a small place can feel if it's laid out properly.

Dream Sources: We love looking online (what up Apartment Therapy!). Stores like Tom Ford, and our experiences and travel have shaped our place. Also, mixing the masculine and feminine sides together has been fun. There's nothing better than a good contrast.

Thanks, Lauryn and Michael!
