Name: Sonia Rayos and Ibán Ramón and their four kids
Location: Ensanche, Valencia
Size: 2238 square feet
Years lived in: Owned 3 years

Sonia and Ibán's home illustrates a perfect harmony between two design disciplines. He is an award-winning graphic designer, and she's an award-winning architect. They complement each other, and their family flat is full of functionality and great design.

Sharing a home with four children isn't always easy, but Sonia's renovation of this space—along with Ibán's design input—helped create a place that is both comfortable and has room for a vibrant, growing family. Their minimal approach has let charming older elements (like the gorgeous tile floors) shine while mixing in sleek modern pieces.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Our Style: Rationalist, minimalist. The form follows the functionality.

Inspiration: The home itself is inspiring. It's about creating by keeping its own story.

Favorite Element: The hydraulic floors and carpentry.

Biggest Challenge: Opening the the two living rooms; they were very subdivided so we opened it to make just one big functional and light room.

What Friends Say: Everybody loves it.

Proudest DIY: The renovation project was done entirely by us.

Biggest Indulgence: A place where you can relax, work, or just spend some family time.

Best Advice: We want to install wooden floor, but with four kids in the house we prefer to install quality laminate flooring to ease the cleaning and the family living. But when they grow up we're definitely changing it!

Dream Sources: Have a beautiful oak floor.
