When musicians nest, it is usually a visual feast, but when those musician are also designers you are in for a real treat! This creative pair hardly ever shops for furniture or major decorating items, the main pieces "found their way there". This is exactly what makes their home so special, it is lived in and cozy. Their home is put together with an eye for detail and you instantly feel they have a wonderful understanding of space...

>>

They dream of an uncluttered life, mainly because they are creative souls who needs clarity from their inspired and sometimes scattered thoughts. They strive to have a yearly de-clutter and this year they got rid of loved décor items, in order to get back to the basics. Annie admits the need for something new, but awaits inspiration.
The inspiration they draw from color is evident throughout their apartment in the bold color choices they made for the main walls. They won't often indulge in items for the home, but when it comes to workmanship and carpentry, only the best will do. Their German precision is visible throughout the house!
The space does challenge them from time to time, especially when they try to achieve warmth without clutter. The arrival of their baby has created a re-shuffle in the home and by the looks of it both baby and piano are blissfully happy with the arrangement!

AT Survey:
My/Our Style: Simple, with little out of the ordinary details, although at the moment I got rid of many decor items, in order to get back to square one. I feel like trying something new, but I don't know yet what that change might be.
Inspiration: Colour – and people who live by clolour, like Frida Kahlo for example. Also colourful people like Rufus Wainwright!.
Favorite Element: The size of the large rooms and the high ceilings.
Biggest Challenge: A big challenge is to achieve a sense of warmth while maintaining an uncluttered space.
What Friends Say: The like the use of color and that we have few, but mostly large pieces of furniture.
Biggest Embarrassment: The bathroom and toilet, we have never really paid much attention to this part of the home, probably because we are renting!
Proudest DIY: All the shelves in the apartment were built by ourselves.
Biggest Indulgence: We really don't tend to indulge, we have a big family and all the main pieces found their way over to us over the years, so we have never had to go out and shop in a major way. When it comes to things having to be done around the apartment we do indulge in trained workmanship to make sure work is done properly, like painting of walls, lacquer-work and carpentry.
Best advice:Try and limit consuming, especially small items. And clear out, a real BIG clear out, at least once a year!
Dream Source:Metamorphose in Eppendorf and Home and Garden in Winterhude, both in Hamburg.

Resources:
Almost all the items were passed on from family members and friends, or already in the apartment when we moved in.
