Name: Florence Masson
Occupation: Retired from Interior Design . Now a past time artist painter.
Location: Yzerfontein, West Coast, South Africa
Type: Cape Cod Style House
Size: 3,200 square feet
Years lived in: 3
Flo and her husband are originally from Mauritius and the French flair is very present in their nest . When they relocated to South Africa they moved to Cape Town but they always longed for a life closer to nature. This piece of paradise with a view of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean was intended as a holiday home but soon became their permanent residence.
As a retired Interior Designer, Flo has made their home her final project and her love for design, textures and colors are on display every where. Her home is a rich tapestry of treasures collected from years of traveling and living in different locations, and she dreams of living in the South of France some day soon. These days, she paints and her inspiration comes mainly from the breathtaking views from the balcony — especially during September and October when the Humpback Whales frolic in the waves.

Truly beautiful!
Too much gorgeousness. Traditional can look fussy and cluttered, but this is elegant and clean. I love color popping on white.
And the location.....ah, in my next life, PLEASE!
The beige/brown bed is absolutely to die for. Swoon.
Beautiful floors.
Loving that Red Settee and Orange Fauteuil
Oh, the ocean and the pool. Oh my.
an absolute dream! the floors, the flowers, the beach, beautiful window treatments, louis inspired furniture, and fabulous iron bed, the list goes on and on!
those striped walls look beautiful.
Love your house. One thing though is your art work over the couch is to high, bring it down about three inches.
This may sound weird, but I can feel the love that you have for your home. Well done!
the outdoor space is lovely
They could have decorated it with garbage bags and plastic lawn chairs with a view like that.....wow.
It's a lovely home with a lovely view. Very airy, bright and welcoming, beautiful. (And I think the hight of the art is fine, not that I think you're actually going to change it anyway)
Absolutely gorgeous!
So lovely--thanks for sharing it with all of us. Enjoy painting!
Wow! I wish she'd come out of retirement to take me on as a charity project!
I usually try to contain my jealously, but this place is far too nice and I am forced to hate you.
I watched photo after gorgeous photo with growing envy, wishing for just one depicting something I would not want to instantly snatch as mine. And then I arrived at the last three. So not fair.
What an ocean view! I agree with whoever said something about plastic bags and lawn chairs. I would sleep in a tent and cook over a campfire for that view.
HOW dreamy and romantic! it is a rainy and grey day in boston, but i'd crawled inside these photos and curled up pretty much from that shot of the hats onwards. what a beautiful reminder of the way good design can lift a mood or change one's day for the better.
Love your home...even before I saw the ocean view and the pool. The pink bedroom, the Kitchen, the 1/4 table, the hanging star fish and all the white....I could some visit..promise to be quiet.
I love your best advice as well as your home:-)
The nautical theme and all the hearts are so lovely....the "husband" pillow is cute, too.
African style. Here you will find some ideas as to how to go about it.
