If you think that this sunny San Francisco studio apartment looks familiar, congratulate yourself for having a keen memory -- Frances' bright and cozy Lower Pacific Heights apartment was a contestant in our Small Cool 2008 competition last April. We liked how comfortable and inviting it seemed, even for such a small space, so we were glad to take an in-person look at the studio and share what we saw.

But we were also impressed that Frances, a design consultant who works from home, was able to separate her work and relaxation areas. Her efficiently converted walk-in closet serves as an office that allows her to step out from her work space, close the curtain door, and take a moment to breathe in a comfortable, restful, and work-free environment. (You may notice she has another desk in the main space -- that one is purely for non-work related activities.)
One last fun fact: Frances, who formerly worked in a tile showroom, was actually responsible for the 26th and Guerrero Market tiled wall that we once noticed and posted about last September! In the slideshow, you can see sample tiles from that project lining the backsplash in her kitchen. Seems like it was kismet that we were given the opportunity to revisit Frances' small cool space.
