uh - you're forgetting a few posts I'm sure! This one comes to mind! ;)
http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/house-tours/matthews-refurbished-retro-airstream-house-tour-140718
Agreed,Nereid!
I was looking for the Airstream guy too!
This compilation is a little weird-I dont think there were any comments calling the Conan guy 'hot' they just noted that he looks like Conan.
As everyone else noticed- airstream guy is missing! And where are beefy dudes in the modern farmhouse?
Can we vote on a do-over?
Can I take Daniel home?
Yeah the airstream guy. Like that.
I guess its easy to forget that home decor is almost exclusively for white people. :-/
Really? What does this have to with design?
Infomofo, I think you need to be under 35 to be a hot design geek too!
Good one @nereid:)
This is wildly stupid. Are you going to have a best of uglies 2011 tour as well?
Ugh. This couldn't be more lame. I miss the days when house tours were presented without the owner's photo ...
i know you couldn't place him twice.. but if you had to choose - Sean Yashar belongs under this post
hot design geeks melt my heart
I have certainly found some of the people in the house tours of the past year attractive and house tours are my favorite part of AT. However, given the point of this site, a post about the best "House Tour Hotties" makes me a little uncomfortable. It just doesn't seem appropriate.
I kinda feel that people who comment on other people's level of attractiveness should not be encouraged with an article about it.
Teach people to be better. Don't sink to the lowest level.
Very, very tacky.
I agree with everyone who says this is tacky. Tacky is the word. Please do not demean this blog.
What next? Are you going to ask us to submit photos to see if we are sufficiently hot to look at the house tours?
I've been scouring this site for house calls and house tours, since I'll be getting my own place early next year. I really appreciate this end of the year feature, especially the more random groupings (best media storage, best Austin homes...and, yeah, this one!), because it gives me a chance to see tours that I may not have stumbled upon on my own.
shame on you AT!
the omission of the hot bears/stylist tv show guy in the renovated farmhouse makes this post null and void.
Oh lighten up, people! They're hot, and that's fun to look at - just like pretty houses. Get over it.
Helloooooo John, ALWAYS nice to see your beautiful face on my computer screen.... *SWOON* :)
@SherriEakin - I think some of us think this post is inappropriate because it's just shallow and unnecessary. Beauty, like design, is in the eye of the beholder. It shouldn't be pigeonholed and no one can be the sole arbitor of what is attractive.
@dancy_flammarion - "Desperate and foolish" may be a little harsh, IMO. Sure, some people find John attractive. I don't. I think he stepped out of a 1995 JC Penney catalog.
rather see cute pets!
Not why I'm here, and that's fine. AT's variety has something for every life stage, even when it comes to daydream material. It would seem creepy if the photos were just of women, though.
totally tacky.
will you please also create a post for the fugliest home owners? thanks.
I would have hoped that a design blog would have considered one's skills rather than one's appearance, or genetic luck.
@dianejerry, You may enjoy

Interestingly, there are zero comments after the pet post. As they say, sex sells, so AT's youthful, playful, humorous attitude, as exemplified by this post, keeps up readership.
PS As do deliberately contentious posts.
Ugh...this post is almost as annoying as People Magazine and their most beautiful people issue!
Uuuuuw! Thanks, Elaine! Clicking pet post now. :D
I love how people are calling this post shallow, but this entire website caters to design snobs who believe in beautifying everything. AND you can be sure to find critiques down to the smallest detail on every post telling people just how beautiful or NOT beautiful they think a room is. We're human, we like pretty. It doesn't mean we are incapeable of loving something that isn't traditionally beautiful. It's eye candy. If this post were about the homes of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Johnny Depp, Will Smith, [insert hot actor/actress here], people wouldn't call it "shallow" to point out the homeowner's hottness. Again I say CHILL OUT PEEPS!
No.
Not sure why people think this is tacky and the Ryan Gosling post seemed to be such a smashing success.
Ending world hunger, greening the planet, and achieving lasting world peace combined would be easier than ending lookism. We may be hard-wired for it, much as we may be for tribalism. The best response can be just to notice that you're being induced to read a post (or buy chewing gum, or vote) by propaganda that uses titillation or visceral arousal.
As for Ryan Gosling, I'd never heard of him until reading that post. I still don't get his popularity since jerky young men are very numerous here. I guess it really does take all kinds.
PS By here, I mean here in Miami.
The only thing that offends me about this post is the glaring omission of Airstream Guy and Beefy Farmhouse Dudes.
It's a travesty, I say! A travesty!
The posted portraits are far from being porn or sexist. Maybe it's because I'm matronly that I don't find this post offensive. Some of the portraits here look so fresh, bright, and young that they remind me of my guy and myself 33-34 years ago in our first home.
I'd just like to point out that almost all the owners AT photographs turn out to be wonderfully photogenic, even the ones "not conventionally attractive." Why? Because they're shot while showing off the homes they have made for themselves. All are obviously happy, excited and proud to welcome us into their living rooms for a bit. Cheekiness aside, there's a little lesson in how things like your own pride and excitement impact how others see you. AT isn't just about the Apartment, it's also about the Living!
Also, Airstream Guy and Farmhouse Guys, yeah.
Ugh is right. Just one more reason to never ever let AT tour your home.
@Tinyvoices, good points. I don't recall ever noticing an ugly portrait photo of an AT house tour home owner. In fact, they often look surprisingly like sweet kids.
next.
Very disappointed. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I thought Apartment was way above this, no offense. We are all beautiful each and every way. Not just some.
Sadly, the one post I remember the most is missing from this.....where are the hot bears in the modern farmhouse? Honestly, I'm looking forward to their calendar. *oink*
If you folks really don't care for posts such as these, then, please......don't read them. You sound like a bunch of prudes who feel that it's their life's mission to judge everybody based on your own miserable life. You don't want to see pictures of hot and sexy homeowners? Don't look at them......just because you find them offensive (I suspect you are jealous, though) doesn't mean that others shouldn't have the opportunity to see them. If you find that AT is too "risque," then don't read it. It really is that simple.
@ dancy....the fact that you assume that all the comments about the attractiveness of the women come from men and men from women just goes to show how ignorant and intolerant you truly are. This is a public forum for all people, not just judgemental people like yourself who seek to deprive others of the joys that you are offended by. What a hypocrite and uninformed person you are. This is the 21st century......learn to treat others with decency and respect or learn to live outside of the mainstream. Oh, and have a nice day!
What is wrong with commenting that the owners of these beautiful homes are also beautiful themselves? It is incorrect to believe that you are born beautiful or not. Just like your home it is what you make of it and any person can be beautiful by what they make of themself by what they do, act, think, wear, surround themself with.
Also every person smiles in the photos. That automatically makes the person hottie.
A person's beauty is very different from the beauty of a piece of furniture or other inanimate home furnishing. Physical beauty can only briefly disguise a person's inner hatefulness, while inner beauty can be seen in how a person treats others over time. Although appropriate appreciation of a person's physical beauty is fine, inner beauty is more important.
I think this post is hilarious. People comment EVERY TIME about the hot or cute homeowners profiled here--not to mention their pets! People need to lighten up, and skip over posts that are likely to annoy them.
And really--the Ryan Gosling piece a month or so ago was THE most entertaining post of the year.
It's ok to objectify objects, not people. There's a big difference.
For the people who are offended - stop bitching about it and skip over the post altogether. It's that freaking simple. It's not meant to be taken THAT seriously, so don't get your panties in a wad.
Ha ha ha! So cool! Love it!
I agree that most of the home owners seem to be glowing with pride in their photos and that makes them more attractive. I also agree that the "Airstream guy" should most definitely have been included in this post.
@gretchenE: I don't see how pointing out that someone has a great sense of design AND happens to be attractive to boot is objectifying.
I think this is a fun post. I enjoy looking at both beautiful spaces and beautiful people. Like others, Air stream guy is one of the first i thought of, as well as the adorable couple in Emily Shuman's Modern Rustic Home.
Amazing sofa, cool kitchen, nice ass. What's the diff.?
I like to see who lives where and not just because I like to check out cute faces, which I do, but because sometimes it makes more sense as to why a place looks like it does or it confounds me as to why that person likes that style. It's another dimension of the space.
I love seeing how people fit into their surroundings so I love seeing people in the home tours. And there is nothing wrong with acknowledging a person's beauty, we all like complements - to disagree would be dishonest.
Nobody's demeaned by this post, unlike the requested post on "fugly" homeowners. The trick is to value correctly the different kinds of human beauty, avoiding the confusion that's caused too many gorgeous entertainers to self-destruct around age 40. The camera does lie, big-time, about fleeting, illusory physical beauty, so much so that noticing good-looking AT portraits seems similar to appreciating painted portraits in an art gallery. This being AT, what's more relevant than photos of strangers is that at home affection and inner beauty make people daily more beautiful to their friends and loved ones regardless of objective age and health.
Finding something nice to say
At last! Photos not of Eames or Ikea!
Well, I tried.
womp womp...people are so uptight. relax. it's just good looking people.
Agree with nereid, Matthew Hofmann is pretty sexy. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/house-tours/matthews-refurbished-retro-airstream-house-tour-140718
Nothing against hotties or house-tour hosts, but I find the people pictures distracting. Especially when they're in the first picture of the post. It's more fun to imagine the people from looking at their space. If I have a negative reaction to the guy's sweater or to the pretty preciousness of the proud couple, then maybe I skip the post and miss something inspiring.
YESH. So I have been a lurker on AT for awhile now - I enjoy the exchange of ideas and like to see how others decorate their living spaces. But this - just not sure what to say - it seems that perhaps the editors were needing to fill space.
@SherriEakin - exactly!
People...LIGHTEN UP! Quit taking things so seriously. AT is not making any kind of statement here about owners needing to be sooo hot to be on their site, they're just making a fun post in response to readers' comments.
It's nice to see the faces of those actually living in the spaces we see. After all, doesn't YOUR personal style influence your home decor? Isn't a lived-in home so much better than a sterile one photographed for magazines? I personally enjoy seeing the owners who live in these spaces, and if they happen to be hot, so be it! :)
Wow. Some people have NO sense of humor. Seriously...I'm with the "lighten up" crowd here. Life is just too short.
I'll admit, I clicked through just to read the comments. But I would be remiss if I didn't mention the post that got my brother so many comments. His girlfriend didn't think it was as funny as the rest of us, for some reason. :)
