Name: Joseph D.
Location: Wicker Park, Bosworth Ave.
Size: 400 square feet
Joseph has moved a lot in the past few years, including living only "half-time" in Chicago, while he shared the other half of his life with Santiago de Chile. His most recent apartment in Wicker Park is the brightest one we remember, with tons of light seeping through the slanted windows of his top floor nest. With treehouses and igloos inspiring him, this place was the perfect small, sweet respite from a long day in Chicago. With only 400 sq/ft, Joseph has thoughtfully placed his stuff, and amazingly keeps the packrat side of him out of view.
Years lived in:
Bright color, white, tree house, igloo
Simple, found items, hand-me-downs, estate sales, rustic clean, euro simple. I was raised by a packrat grandmother and a mother who threw everything away. So I am a packrat that hides everything so I cant see it, or remember where I hide it.
I only have one.
Most talked about element:
My couch, it’s a Peter Hvidt, a Danish modern item.
Most embarrassing element:
Maybe a little too much IKEA.
Although crooked, I hung the curtains all alone.
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own.
My fake Eames recliner.
The red Eames shell chair.
The volkeyno—it’s the blue cone shaped storage unit hanging on the wall. I put my randomness inside.
