Back in October, Kelly Edwards let us investigate her home for a Time Out article seeking to compare on-screen local TV folks with their at-home style (we also covered WTTW's Phil Ponce). Knowing that Time Out would only show a small glimpse, we took some photos for AT (one of Kelly's favorite resources, she says, for her Design on a Dime ideas and inspiration)...

Kelly admits to a lot of leaning objects and temporary design solutions - her self-described Libra tendencies have her avoiding permanent design choices. What you'll find are a lot of leaning pieces of artwork; a giant leaning mirror; pillows and blankets that shift from place to place; simple, uncommitted walls. Kelly's most prized possession is the "steak" coffee table (named by her friend, Critter) that she pulled from a neighborhood curb years ago.
Kelly and Brian have since moved back to Los Angeles after three years in Bucktown (we caught them right as they were starting to pack, so...no shots of the bedroom piled with boxes), and we look forward to seeing their LA place one of these days.

Our style: Classically eclectic?

Inspiration: Design magazines and thrift stores

Favorite Element: My coffee table for sure!

Biggest Challenge: Convincing my boyfriend that the coffee table was a really cool piece and we had to keep it no matter what!

What Friends Say: ? I guess I never asked them.

Proudest DIY: My dining chairs that I garbage picked and refurbished just hours before going on the news with them.

Biggest Indulgence: The sofa and chair. It's the only thing in our house that we purchased at full price.

Best advice: Your home is like an outfit. If you're not happy with it or comfortable in it, it'll show. Design your home so you're comfortable in it. Don't worry what everyone else is doing. If you love it, that's all that matters.

Dream source: Anywhere I can find warm and cozy things with character.
