This contemporary houseboat in Hamburg, Germany doesn't have a permanent mooring. Pictured here on the
Eilbek Kanall, the floating steel and wood home is easy to move with a tug boat.
Designed by Rost Niderehe Architects designed the sleek home to be both a home and office — public space is on the top deck (with the access to land) and more private space is on the bottom level.

A houseboat that looks like a boat - Who'da Thunk???
I love it - I just wish the interiors had as many Nautical details.
(and not in a kitschy Blue & White w/ embroidered whales, jars of seashells and lobster-trap coffee tables)
That boat is nicer than my condo.
Brings to mind a distinction made during 20 years of living in a floating home in Oregon.
Houseboat = self contained vessel capable of navigation under its own power with living quarters being the primary design consideration.
Floating home = home built on float not capable of moving on its own, typically moored with similar dwellings for electric/gas/sewer connections.
Big difference from an insurance, slip rental and general space/cost ratio perspective. My guess is that this is not self contained and needs shore power/water/sewer.
