These darling British boarding school badges got me thinking how fun it would be to start the year by giving everyone in the household a role- a sacred responsibility, an honor. Of course, since I live alone, I'm Librarian, Gardener, Safety Monitor, Head Girl, and House Captain all in one!

The way I picture it, everyone in the house would be given a title, a badge, and a list of accompanying responsibilities. The roles and badges could rotate every month so nobody would get sick of being Dinner Monitor (setting and clearing the table) or Gardener (watering all the houseplants). Fun, right? Of course, I'll do just about anything to get a sassy pin. At the end of each month, merit badges would be awarded. Courage, Compassion, Grace, and Fortitude could be the standard issue, with Wonderful reserved for wonderfulness, and Be Optimistic given to someone who's having a hard go of it. Imagine how awesome your jeans jacket would look by the end of the year, with all those patches!

Does everyone in your house have a set role? Does it change weekly, monthly, or yearly? Do you covet that Prefect badge like I do because it looks like it says "Perfect"?
