Q: We have this antique tiger oak pedestal dining table and four chairs. It was given to us many years ago. I'm not sure how old it is, but it's old. And heavy. It's pretty beat up— water stains, scratches, overall dullness and discoloration. I need tips on how I can make it work with the eating area in our new home.
My favorite look would be more of a rustic modern farmhouse, but that would require a different table. I digress. The table needs refinishing, but I just feel like the wood of the table combined with the cherry cabinets in the kitchen makes for a whole lot of wood tones going on. Do I dare paint the table? Or maybe get the table refinished and shop around for some cooler chairs so it's not so matchy matchy? Help!
