On Friday we talked about how we wanted to enjoy some of Summer this weekend. We sort of succeeded: we made lemonade, took a nice long walk in the neighborhood and on the beach, but we didn't get to the garden. Since this is the last official day of outdoors month (don't worry we'll still be posting plenty of outdoor solutions and inspiration) we wondered, how'd you spend your weekend?

Walked from 96th Street down to about 70th Street on the walkpath next to Riverside Park in Manhattan; it was almost too warm for it but basically beautiful.
mmm... finishing touches on the garden, painted a stool the previous tenants left behind in our basement, lots of laundry and lots of cleaning with the windows wide open and good smells all around the house. it felt good to do a deep clean. and then we capped it all off with a fire out back and some summery brews, with tacos.
Nice long neighborhood walk (after the rain finally stopped) and then last night rode our bikes to see the city fireworks!
I hiked in the Colorado Rocky Mountains from Echo Lake to Chicago Lakes. The wildflowers were beautiful and of course plenty of fresh air and cool temperatures (around 50 deg. at the summit).

The extent of my nature enjoyment was minimal weed whacking on Sunday. It's hard to enjoy the outdoors when it's a whopping 116 degrees outside.
Thank you, Phoenix!
Had a lovely BBQ with friends on the patio and were luckily spared from the thunder storms..
Biked down to the Santa Monica Farmer's Market on Sunday morning, and enjoyed crepes and a string quartet in perfect California weather. But the best part was the free valet bike parking!

Helped my brother and sister-in-law raise the handmade timberframe for their new home!
Rock-climbing and trail-running at the New River Gorge in West Virginia.

Hiked Santa Monica Canyon Sunday morning with my dog and good friend and her dogs. Plenty of shade to stay cool but still able to enjoy the brilliantly blue sky and bright morning sunshine.
