Q: I found a mediocre-looking Eames-style lounge chair on Craigslist and decided to completely refinish and reupholster it in a very non-traditional style. I'm redecorating my entire bedroom and have a very specific inspiration photo (from Joy Cho's studio designed by Emily Henderson).

Basically, lots of white with emerald green, fuschia and yellow accents. I thought it would be amazing to upholster the chair in a deep green velvet, much like the sofa in Joy's studio.

Here's the problem: After the brutal effort in refinishing and restaining the wood, it's now a very reddish brown. I don't think the fabric I picked out looks good with it at all. I really want to use the fabric (or some other jewel-toned velvet). Should I use a darker stain to get the wood darker and browner? Is there another color in my color scheme that would look better with the wood as is? Thanks in advance for your help!

Pic one is the fabric I'd like to use, pic two is the color of the wood now.
