Growing up my parents had to have been envious of families where children decided to play a small instrument — you know, like the piccolo or flute. Instead I plagued our living room for years with a giant upright bass. It was larger than I was and there was never, ever a good place to put it. How do you make it all fit?

Some parents have the space to turn a basement or rec room into an instrument play place while others aren't so lucky. Friends would keep their instruments in their closets, under beds (even a trombone would have been easier to hide than a bass!) or even under side tables in living rooms!

How do you accommodate instruments big or small? What do you find is the easiest way to get all the practicing done and keep your traffic pattern clear? Routine? Habit? What helps your family out? Let us know below!
