Hunting for the perfect apartment is always a challenge. You have to consider the budget, the roommates, the location, your pets, the bedrooms, the bathrooms, etc.. But what about your tech space? When you're apartment hunting, how far up the list do you put the perfect entertainment spot or the ultimate home office? We'll fill you in on our feelings and most recent apartment move after the jump.

When I found my 360 sq/f studio I instantly fell in love with it. The windows were huge, letting in substantial light, the floor was beautiful, and most importantly the ceilings were tall. Considering my budget and location needs I was only coming up with studio spaces that fell short space-wise. As a graphic design student and avid computer-user, I needed a spacious workspace that I wasn't prepared to sacrifice. When I found my current studio I knew instantly I could put the 13' ceilings to use. I applied for the apartment, was accepted, and began building a lofted bed system which would create a perfectly defined home office underneath.

The benefit is two-fold. The space no longer feels like a studio since you can't ever see the bed. Secondly, I gained the precious real estate on the floor which allowed me to have an extremely spacious desk accompanied by two shelves on either side. Thanks to the high ceilings I successfully added more square footage to my apartment with no additional cost to my rent.
