We just sent out a post this morning extolling the virtues of a single new habit that could add up to less muscle, more fat. But now we're quite intrigued by the idea of moving over to a standing desk after discovering we could be burning over 325 calories just by working in a standing position, according to the Ergotron Calorie-Burn Calculator...
Try the Just Stand Up Calorie-Burn Calculator, which will show you both your daily calories burned in standing and sitting position. In tandem to our bathroom break exercise routine, we'd estimate we'd be moderately more fit with minimal effort if working in a standing position, even with hours behind the computer. Just imagine if the desk occasionally lowered to make you do squats...

very cool. Now I really want a stand up desk.
Who makes the desk featured in your photo?
The desk in the picture is from geekdesk.com, $800
ok, i guess i don't get these stand up desks for one reason, by the time the workday is done my feet would be killing me.
I sit at a desk all day now but i used to work retail. My feet would be very tired by the end of the day. It doesn't change that much with shoes, obviously some are better, but you are still standing all day. The place I worked even had the gel mats behind the counter to help with fatigue, but even then, standing here all day would kill me. I am not a big guy either, i am pretty slim, and just don't see how it would work.
Yep, I wanna burn a few extra calories!
But... but.. individuals spending most of the day on their feet every working day are at greater risk of health problems including varicose veins, poor circulation and swelling in the feet and legs, foot problems, joint damage, heart and circulatory problems and pregnancy difficulties.
