You think you have a cheap desk, Mr. King of IKEA? Think again. This 3D design student can make a desk from the box yours was shipped in. In fact, he constructed a whole home office—desk, shelves and wall coverings—from pieces of corrugated cardboard.
Before you think about throwing out that cardboard box, consider this: If one guy can build up an entire home office from cardboard, you can surely find something better to do than trash it.
Flickr member Savio Ku serves as an inspiration to us all, proving that one man's trash is indeed another man's treasure. Using nothing more than cardboard, he created this slotted desk that can pull apart and flat pack at a moment's notice.
Final cost for the desk? 20£, or around $33 U.S. dollars.
He doesn't give up any plans for contructing your own, but if you check out Savio Ku's photostream, you can sneak a peek at a few in-construction shots.
Of course, if you don't want to completely DIY, you can buy this glossy-white-cardboard-desk kit (below) instead.
Or, you know, just buy a normal desk. But where's the fun in that?
