Q: After some debate as to whether it was cool and quirky or just plain ugly, I snagged this strange chair for free today when I noticed it looked like my upstairs neighbours were about to throw it in the trash.
The legs make me think mid-century modern, but the colour and material (orange, floral-stamped vinyl) make me think '70s. Aside from a wobbly leg, it's in great condition, although it's a bit small. I wonder if it was a child's chair or a vanity seat. Anyways, I was wondering: what would YOU do to make it over, and what would you use it for? I was thinking of painting the vinyl white, the legs gold and adding a gold fringe around the seat. It could double as a chair AND a side table/nightstand/cat napping perch. Looking forward to reading your ideas!
P.S. I snagged the pink rocking chair behind it for $15 at a fundraiser yard sale down the street from my apartment last week (my boyfriend has its twin), and the brass plant stand for $20 at a used furniture warehouse a few blocks away!
