We're having some bed issues. (Beds are a little complicated when you have a blind dog that sleeps on yours.) So while toying with the idea of building a really, really low platform bed, we came upon this little video demonstration on YouTube...
We're still toying with the idea, but they sure make it look pretty darn easy.

Quite nice but you really do need to have a platform that allows your mattress to breathe otherwise it can become stuffy and moldy. Not only bad for your mattress but bad for you; it really is very unhealthy. Perhaps slots or holes could be made to provide air circulation. Otherwise this is a very nice DIY project!
that was pure awesomeness in time lapse. love it!
Such a great video!
I hate wood platform beds though, and never specify them for clients. The thought of banging into one makes me cringe!!!
I would opt for an upholstered version. Less painful at night when you have to get up in the dark to use the bathroom.
Holy crap that was way more involved than the first platform bed I ever built... which was 2 pieces of OSB for the top and some 1x12 pine for the base. And my second for that matter (entirely of MDF... spray-painted).
Of course that means theirs looks infinitely better than mine ever did.
Well done, wish i had the mad skills to DIY instead of having bought my ikea platform
