Thanks to a love of photography in our household, there are numerous cameras dotting practically every room in our home. Some of these are older than others, like our vintage medium format cameras and Polaroids, and we could not help but notice recently that the twin lenses were in need of a little TLC. Thanks to this handy little Instructable, we are now well on our way to some cleaner vintage cameras.
Instructables user Throw the Viewfinder has created this handy little guide to sprucing up your vintage twin lens reflex.
These instructions are quite simple and require very few parts and tools. To follow these instructions you will need a cross screwdriver, surgical spirit, methyl or a simple glass cleaner, blotting paper, and a soft cloth.
We think this cleaning guide is handy and will help us to give our trusted cameras a much needed face lift.
Check out the post on Instructables, for the ultra easy DIY instructions.

i have a few left to clean in my collection. I usually just start unscrewing things and see where it gets me.
On my brownie hawkeye i was also able to lube the spring a little bit so it went from sticky shutter to working camera. Dont know if i changed the shutter speed in the process yet.
Stop!!! Shoot a roll with the camera before cleaning it - that dust and dirt can create a lovely visual "persona" that clean lenses just don't have.
