How To Create Dining & Work Space in Studio Apartment?

Good Questions

Q: My husband and I live in a one bedroom apartment in San Francisco. We have a tiny kitchen and dining area. Into this tiny area we need to fit a workspace with storage (I sew and make jewelry) and an office space, plus we would really like to have somewhere to eat besides the couch. So a table and chairs would be nice.

I have thought of an expandable table, so it's small on a daily basis, but can be big enough to be a cutting table or have people over. The space is fairly small as I said, 6'3x 7'5. I'm going to be getting rid of the desk. I initially thought of window seats with storage underneath, but they would have to be custom and we don't want to sink a lot of money into that, as it's a rental and I'm not sure how comfy that would be as work seating. I'm just kind of wondering how to combine all those needs into one space without it being overly cluttered. I would prefer it mainly look like a dining room. Am I dreaming?? Anyways, I'm excited to hear any suggestions!
