Start with one pattern that’s large in scale. Try a floral or a wide stripe. Here a giant floral on high-backed couch is the jumping off point.
For your second fabric, pick something smaller in scale, which picks up hues or shapes from the first pattern. On the smaller couch, the smaller floral echo the first couch; the pattern also shares some of the same colors.
For fabric three, try a completely different pattern in a hue that complements the two patterns and brings them together. In this case, the rug ties the two couches together into a single grouping.
