The best thing about IKEA besides price and design is the inherent option of customizing pieces to whatever need befits your own home. Nowhere does it say a bedroom piece has to remain a bedroom piece, nor does a living room piece have to serve in the living room. IKEA seems to suggest this in their catalogs, but nowhere is it more evident than in the booming community of IKEA customization hacks, like this fantastic clothing drawer into TV stand conversion project done by Benita of Chez Larsson
By removing a single drawer and adding an odds and end kitchen unit shelf piece in its place, the IKEA ALEX dresser is now a customized TV stand with space for a DVD player and cable box. Equally awesome is the cutout in the back of the unit, allowing for cables and cords to snake out unseen behind the unit.
