How To: Cover a Lampshade

Pin it button big

We've had this in our bookmarks for a while and since we're highlighting renovation projects this month we thought it was time to share. Making your own lampshade is a great way to spiff up an old or thrifted lamp or to incorporate a favorite textile into a room.

The clear and beautifully illustrated tutorial is courtesy of Lara Cameron (remember her designs at Moo Cards?). It’s probably not a good project to attempt with a child, but if they’re old enough they could help pick out a fabric you both like.

If you're wondering about the design Lara shows on her illustrated lampshade - it's one of her own. Lara designs fabric and sometimes sells it through her Etsy shop Kirin & Co.. It sells like hotcakes though so you have to be quick!

See the full tutorial on Lara’s blog, Kirin Notebook.
