Now that summer has arrived we're all spending a lot more time outside and are probably looking for easy ways to improve our outdoor spaces. Attractive outdoor lighting can be expensive but Karen at The Art of Doing Stuff came up with a way to create a high-end, high-impact look for just a few dollars and a moment of your time. See how she did it after the jump.
Karen simply stuck a string of white lights into opaque glass light fixtures to create lovely outdoor lighting.

If you don't have any extra fixtures on hand, they are always easy to find at thrift stores for next to nothing. This is a great way to to spruce up your outdoor space without breaking the bank. Check out Glowing Outdoor Orbs | The Art of Doing Stuff for all the details and more photos.

That's awesome! I need to keep this in mind for when I get around to decorating the patio we're DIYing!
Fan-freakin-tastic! That will look so good in my backyard.
I already have glowing balls in my well-manicured lawn.
Yay now I know what to do with my ugly kitchen light fixtures when I get new ones!
I have one of those globes that I replaced in my living room. Great idea. I can't wait to copy it.
I'm hitting the thrift store for globes, right now!

@zepper Photo, please??
Great idea! Dollar Store, here I come. I'm in a garden-less condo but I can see these hanging from the sun room ceiling. Wonder how multi-coloured lights would look?
you can avoid the extension chord or expensive electrician bill by using solar powered xmas lights like these:

I'd put one or two in an unused or offseason fireplace.
