You'll need about 2 yards of your favorite fabric, a sewing machine and some elastic. Jaime provides great step-by-step instructions that even a novice can follow.

I absolutely love that crib sheet in the picture. Red is my favorite color.
So, I have an oval Stokke crib. Can anyone help me sew a sheet for the oval shaped mattress? I can't find help with this anywhere!
Sabika- jaime from prudent baby here. i'm jealous you ahve the oval crib! what you want to do is cut a piece of fabric that is the shape of your oval but about 12-14" wider (to account for the 3" depth of the mattress on each side and a few inches for the overlap under your sheet, then fold the inside edge of your oval in 1/4" and iron, then fold it another 3/4" and iron and pin, then sew it all the way around but leave a hole so you can thread elastic through. Cut a piece of 3/4" elastic and thread it through the hole with a safety pin, pull it snug enough to stay on your sheet, and then sew the elastic to itself, then close the hole. simple oval crib sheet!
the other option if you don't want to see gathers on the side of your mattress is to cut two ovals the size of your mattress with an extra 1/2", then cut a 4" strip of fabric the length of the diameter of your mattress and sew it to one of the ovals right sides facing with a 1/2" seam allowance. Turn the other oval into a donut by cutting out the center, sew it to your strip right sides facing, turn the whole sheet rightside out, then repeat the steps above to get the elastic in there.... if that doesnt make sense you can email me jaime@prudentbaby.com and i'll try to explain better!
I so appreciate these comments, Jamie. I have the Stokke and didn't do the research on the sheets prior to purchasing it. Imagine my surprise that Stokke's are ridculously priced and not cute at all.
I cannot comment on the first method of doing the Stokke sheet but I imagine it would work. I attempted the second one because I wanted to mimic the look of a bumper by using a coordinating fabric on the side of the mattress. Up to this point, that worked. It's the second oval, that you suggest cutting a donut in, that is the issue. I tried that but ended up ripping my fabric because the interior oval is too small to stretch around the mattress. Instead, I suggest cutting another strip of fabric for the bottom. That way, where the elastic is going will be the same size when stretched as the mattress.
