Among the writers at Unplggd, many of us are also designers, programmers, photographers or gamers (at the very least by hobby). Whether for professional or personal reasons, it's important to have your own homepage. Here's how you can make an attractive homepage in just minutes – without being a designer.
We stumbled across Flavors.me the other day, a site that lets you create an attractive homepage by clicking a few buttons. If you aren't a designer or developer, this is a great tool for creatives who are looking to share their work, but don't know how or haven't the time to build their own page. Here's how you get started:
Start from Scratch
Setting up an account is easy. You can create an account, or log in with your Facebook or Google account. You're then presented with a blank slate with your name in big letters. Here's where you can title yourself, sort of similar to a Twitter bio. Then go on to filling out contact info, links you want to share,
If you want to connect streams to your profile, you can do that just by clicking on the buttons for Etsy, Facebook or Flickr, etc.
Choose a Design
You can choose from four free templates. (There are five more templates for paying users). Then move on to alignment, corners, and nav bullets. Everything is displayed in visual buttons so customizing is easy to select.
Here's where you can start making this site your own by uploading a unique background image. It can be a photo of you, your work, or anything that visually represents you. You can choose a color palette to go with your image or customize your own colors. Next, choose between Arial, Georgia or Cournier New.
Get the Word Out
Now that you're finished, you can share your work more easily rolled up into this pretty little homepage.
